Welcome you have reached the site of the "NATO Veterans Organization" the first in Canada and we are here to honour our Armed Forces that have served in the past in Europe and the Balkans and are still serving now in Afghanistan under NATO
The serving in Afghanistan has kind of stirred us up, as they are not recognized any where in Canada but they should be. This NATO Veterans Organization is also the first in Canada that is coming together and is a group of all NATO Vets be they have served in the Navy at Sea, Army in Germany, Bosnia Afghanistan, Air Force in France, Afghanistan and there are even more places
Mission Statement
To foster and support the national and international role of Canada's past, current and future NATO/NORAD Veterans assigned forces. By providing local and national focus, advocacy and education on the role and sacrifices made by the NATO/NORAD members and their Families
"Pacem et Libertas"
As of 9 Nov 2009 The Organization has 923 Members from throughout Canada, Belgium, USA, New Zealand, England, South Korea, Australia and Switzerland and from Navy, Army and Air Force Personnel
The main Aim of the organization shall be:
- To constitute an organization for individuals
- Who have served with the NATO Forces
- Who supported, by virtue of their employment, NATO Forces, and
- For the individual’s partners
- To bring about the unity of all who have so served
- To serve as a social focus and a means of mutual assistance for its members.
- To perpetuate the members and deeds of fallen comrades and dependents who lost their lives in defence of Freedom and Peace
- To keep alive the spirit and camaraderie of those listed in a) 1 and 2 only
- To liaise with other organizations whose purposes and objects are wholly or in part the same as or similar
- To pass on to their families and dependants the tradition for which they stand
- To engage only in activities which will be to the credit and benefit of our communities and which will encourage and promote the positive reputation of those as listed in a) 1 and 2 only
- Non political and non-sectarian
Our second Aim is to honour our 570 members of the Navy, Army and Air Force. that are buried in Europe as well as the 927 Dependents since WW II or since 1951. They are buried in 44 cemetery’s and we have them listed with us and you can visit their website at:
Europe’s Cemetery and Personal Gravesites
You will be surprised of the numbers and their ages. You can search by name and place of the Cemetery. This is a good site for families that have lost their off spring both military and dependents
However we sadly have to say that since 1993 we have lost many again in Bosnia and Afghanistan and the honour roll lists many Canadian Soldiers and 1 Diplomat while engaged in a wartime situation as part of the: NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION ( NATO )
